Good looking box - the idea should come in handy in a few weeks (once I get the garage cleared out and a gym installed).

Kris,
Are those 1x4s on the top and bottom of the middle box?

Vince, if memory serves, the top layer is 0.8″ and the bottom-most 1.2″. This means the 3″ box is actually 0.2″ short of 3″, but close enough. The other ones are precise.

That imperial system of yours really throws me off sometimes. Why can’t everybody just go metric..? SO much easier. If you can count to ten, then you’re set. Everything works in multiples of ten. Oh, except pr’s and such of course.

Inches is the de facto standard for lumber and squat boxes. Perhaps I should start counting PRs in multiples of 0.000001 though… Speaking of which, it has been great to see that many fellow powerlifting bloggers on the other side of the Atlantic have also started to use a dual pounds/kilograms notation.

Hey, Kris, the Worlds are coming soon to your neck of the woods. Any plans on doing some meet coverage, like last year?
BTW, you are indeed the Bob Villa of the powerlifting world:)

About meet coverage… What do you think?
Had no idea who Bob Vila was, but thanks to the power of Google, I take that as a compliment.

Sweet!!! Do you think Ano will join the 900 DL club and 1100 squat club?

Don’t have an informed opinion on that yet. We’re planning on buying gym membership at Metal on Friday… I’ll be training in the night shift though, so might not see Ano in action all too often.

Rumor has it that Ano will not be lifting in Helsinki. And yes, coverage is still on despite the fact that this blog has been kind of slow lately…
Slow yes, dead in the water no.

Another quick note. Metal Gym will be closed beginning Nov 1st for the comps and the two monolifts will be taken to the meet venue. Magnetic keycard holders can of course train as usual.
