Rufus, då 1 år 10 månader gammal, har länge varit tågfrälst. Vi hoppade över staketet där det var som lägst genom att använda ett av hans trätåg som modell. Leksaker fungerar ofta ypperligt som bas för pepparkaksprojekt.
Rufus, then 1 year 10 months, has had a long love affair with trains of all kinds and shapes. Need we say more...? We took the easy way out. Toys, in this case one of his wooden trains, often make great gingerbread templates.
Efter det runda tornet i ett stycke år 2003 är runda delar ingen utmaning längre. Bara att grädda degen runt en (tom!) energidrycksburk för att skapa en motordel i lämplig storlek.
Making round pieces feels like nothing after the one-piece tower of 2003. Dough baked around an (empty!) energy drink made an engine of a suitable circumference.

A grater is a central tools in the gingerbread constructor's toolbox. Here the edges of the engine have been evened out for a better fit.

Efter att ha dekorerat tåget och packat in små presenter att lasta på sov familjen gott. Men familjefadern experimenterade långt in på natten med att skapa en illusion av ett längre tåg som kommer ut ur en tunnel. Att kleta deg på en foliebas fungerade inget vidare. Bäst att lämna tunnelbyggandet till ett annat år...
Having decorated the train and wrapped small presents to go with it, the family was sound asleep. Only the the family father remained awake long into the night experimenting with creating the illusion of a longer train coming out of a tunnel. Bombastic visions aside, creating a rock face by slapping dough on a foil base did not work too well. Better leave tunnels for another year...
